Our focus is on practical ways to reduce barriers to learning—particularly in literacy, speech and language development, early education, and inclusive learning for children with different learning needs.

For children who find reading difficult, finding the right book can be a challenge. Books at a comfortable reading level may feel too young, while books written for their age can be frustrating or inaccessible.
The Poe Foundation is working to help elementary school libraries build collections that bridge that gap: engaging, age-appropriate books with approachable reading levels and reader-friendly design.
Our approach is to provide carefully selected books directly to participating school libraries, helping put better choices within reach of young readers.
Our goal: more children finding books they can read successfully—and genuinely want to read.
